Teaching uncommon values: A different future for education for democratic citizenship
The case for democratic citizenship education is often made in terms of values and more specifically the teaching of the common values of democracy. In this presentation I will argue that such an approach is no longer viable in our time and has actually always been vulnerable. I will suggest a different justification for democracy and will outline the implications for education for democratic citizenship.
